Marine Science - Biological Studies

In this class, we will cover topics such as the physical, chemical, and geological aspects of the ocean, the diversity of marine organisms, the coastal and ecology that describes the relationships between these organisms and their environments. Throughout the course, students will develop their critical thinking and reasoning, and they will understand how to apply the scientific approach to try to solve some of the most urgent environmental concerns for our oceans, as well as consider what we need to do to preserve life in the ocean. Students will partake in many lab experiments, hands-on activities, and fieldwork. Students get out of the classroom and into the field, learning while exploring the coastline, gathering samples on kayaks, making observations from stand-up paddle boards, and testing hypotheses in tide pools.

In Marine Science — Biological Studies, concepts come to life as students experience hands-on science, allowing their inquiries to drive their learning and working as a team of young scientists to explore the natural world. Each session focuses on a specific group of marine animals, learn what makes them unique, their adaptations in the habitat they reside in, and then dissect an example of said group to learn anatomy identification.
